Cross Pen Engraving
Cross pens have two basic styles for engraving: metal and coated. The metal pens are diamond-drag engraved. Just as a farmer plows his fields, we use a diamond to plow the metal. In a good diamond drag, you should see a sparkle to the engraved lettering on the metal surface.
The other style, coated Cross pens, is where the manufacture coated over the pen's metal base. Initially, Cross only offered this in classic black; however, they now have almost every color available. With coated pens, we use lasers to cut through the coating and expose the core metal surface. Most Cross pens have a brass (gold color) core. A few have a silver color core.
